In the aftermath of the adoption of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), the initiative “Ending Violence Against Migrants” (EVAM) proposes an innovative pragmatic approach to implement the Compact and meet several of its objectives.
In an environment where positions seem often irreconcilable, EVAM does not take sides. EVAM methodology seeks to identify harmful situations affecting migrants and engage in a constructive dialogue with the actors and institutions in a positions to amend their practices or policies. It can be used with the aim of reducing or ending all types of violence – physical and psychological – against persons living on the territory of a State of which they are not nationals, either as migrants or refugees.
